Odisha Congress leader Mohammad Moquim, 24 others held for ransacking Police Station

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested senior Congress leader and Cuttack Nagar Congress Committee president Mohammad Moquim along with twenty-four party members in connection with Purighat Police Station vandalism during Bharat Bandh on Sept 10.

The police picked the Congress activists from their houses following separate raids late last night.

The police said, A group of Congress members led by Moquim had on Tuesday barged into the police station and damaged properties including documents and furniture after detention of Congress activists during Bharat Bandh.

They had also misbehaved with a police officer after being prevented from vandalism, the police claimed.

Just before his arrest, Moquim spoke to media persons and denied all charges levelled by the police saying it is a false attempt to blame the image of the party.

“We will intensify our protest against police atrocity after coming out from jail,” said Moquim.
