Volkswagen Virtus to be unveiled on March 8, company informs through a teaser

Volkswagen has released the teaser for its upcoming sedan in India. The company through its latest teaser image has informed that it will unveil its upcoming car on March 8, 2022. From the teaser we are able to know that the upcoming car will be a mid-size sedan and is most probably the Volkswagen Virtus. For those who are unaware, the Volkswagen Virtus will be the replacement of Volkswagen Vento.

It is expected that the new Volkswagen sedan will share interior and features of the recently launched Taigun SUV. The Virtus will be based on the MQB AO-IN platform like the Skoda Slavia. It is expected that the upcoming sedan will feature an electric sunroof, large touchscreen, digital instrument console, multiple airbags, LED projector headlamps, LED tail-light and others.

The new Volkswagen sedan is expected to be powered by a powerful 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.0-litre engine generates maximum power of 108 bhp and the top torque figures recorded by the sedan will be 175 Nm. The 1.0 litre petrol engine will be coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Users will also be offered with a 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox. It is expected that the sedan will also get a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is offered in the Taigun. The engine generates a peak power of 147 bhp while the maximum power is 250 Nm.

When it comes to availability, the new Volkswagen Virtus is expected to go into production in early 2022.Considering the fact that the Volkswagen Vento is going to be discontinued soon; the Volkswagen Virtus might replace it in future. In terms of dimensions, the VW Virtus measures 4482mm in length, 1751mm in width and 1472mm in height. This means new sedan will be 92mm longer, 5mm taller and 52mm wider when compared to Vento. The wheelbase of the sedan is 2651mm while that of the Vento is 2553mm. This means that the Virtus is longer than the Vento by 98mm.

Considering that India does not have ample mid-sized sedan, the Volkswagen Virtus will offer a good option for budgets buyers. We are hopeful that this sedan stands up to the mark of other sedans available in the Indian market.
