85 year old man carried on cot to cast vote in Odisha’s Sundergarh dist

Sundergarh: My vote, my right. This has been proved in case of an octogenarian man from Sundergarh district of Odisha who though was too weak did not hesitate to visit the Polling Booth to cast his vote during the second phase of the Panchayat Poll on Friday. The incident took place in a Dahijira village village under Kutra Block of the district.

As per reports, 85 year old Ishapal Gudia from the Dahijira village is bed-ridden due to old age related ailments for the last few months. Yet, as today he volunteered to cast his vote his family members along with the Asha worker of the village carried him to the polling booth on a cot.

The incident has become an inspiration not only for other old people but even young men and women who are not casting of vote as a serious affair, have been inspired by the act. The Anganwadi worker of the village has said that the old man was very much excited to cast his vote and later he was much happy.
