Mathura priests oppose Sunny Leone’s dance to “Madhuban Mein Radhika”
Mathura-based priests have expressed their opposition over Sunny Leone’s latest video album “Madhuban mein Radhika naache.” The song is a remake of the iconic 60’s song with the same title. Mathura priests are protesting against the actress’ dance on the video accusing her of hurting their religious sentiments with “obscene” steps.
The original song was sung by Mohammed Rafi for the 1960 film Kohinoor.
According to the reports, Sant Naval Giri Maharaj of Vrindaban has said that they will go to the court if if the government does not act against the actress and ban her video album.
“Unless she withdraws the scene and tenders a public apology, she should not be allowed to remain in India,” he added to his statement.
Mahesh Pathak, national president of Akhil Bhartiya Tirth Purohit Mahasabha, also said that Sunny Leone has maligned the prestige of Brijbhumi by presenting the song in a “derogatory manner.”
Sunny Leone’s latest music video titled Madhuban sang by Kanika Kapoor and Arindam Chakraborty was released on Wednesday on Saregama Music’s official YouTube channel.
As the song is on the subject of love between Krishna and Radha, viewers too have expressed their unhappiness over the theme of the latest version of the song. Netizens too believe that it hurts Hindu sentiments due to “sensual” moves by the actor in her dance.
