Cuttack: A man met watery grave after falling into a pond in Ranasin village under Narasinghpur village under Cuttack district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhat Kumar Gochhayat (45) of the same village.
Gochhayat, who worked as a peon of Odisha Rural Water Supply and Sanitation department had been to attend nature’s call to a field in the village early this morning and was taking bath in a pond post return when slipped into water due to negligence.
After the victim didn’t return till late in the morning his family members launched a frantic search and spotted his body floating in the pond of late.
Local police rushed to the spot and fished out the body to send for autopsy.
A pal of gloom descended on the village following the mishap.
