India’s PV Sindhu put up a spirited fighting in the final, but Gold eluded her in the end at the World Badminton Championship. She finally ended up with a Silver medal – her best performance in the tournament history.
Japanese Nozumi Okuhara, who had defeated Saina Nehwal in the semifinals, won against Sindhu 21-19, 20-22, 22-20.
It was a close match and Sindhu squandered chances, as she was in a winning position many times. Earlier, Saina had settled for the Bronze medal.
Meanwhile, BAI has announced cash rewards of Rs 10 lakh for PV Sindhu & Rs 5 lakh for Saina Nehwal.
