The grand old party had time and again hit the street at different places of the state in demanding justice for the gang rape victim. It had also requested Odisha Governor S.C.Jamir to intervene in the matter.

The party had even observed a bandh in Koraput district and held a protest march from the Musaguda village, the native village of gang rape survivor, to the DIG office in the district headquarter in a bid to put pressure the state government to arrest the accused involved in the case.

Some of the demands of the Congress party include a judicial probe into the incident and provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the victim and take stringent action against the culprits.

Notably, a class IX class student of Musaguda village under Potangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel while returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) on October 10. The incident had created a huge public outcry in the state.
