Pakistan Celebrates 72nd Independence Day

Islamabad: Pakistan celebrated its 72nd Independence Day with commemorative ceremonies held across the country on Tuesday.

The Independence Day celebration began with a 31-gun salute in the capital city, followed by 21-gun salutes in all four provincial capitals.

People gathered at all important public buildings to observe where they showed their respect to their motherland while their national flag was being hoisted amidst the national anthem.

The major celebration of the day was witnessed at the Convention Centre in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain hoisted the national flag in the presence of Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk and the three chiefs of the armed forces.

While the public buildings have been decorated with bunting and lights, people also witnessed massive fireworks during the Independence Day celebrate.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Rangers officials at the Wagah border crossing exchanged sweets with Indian Border Security Force personnel.
