New Zealand's former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern married her long-time partner Clarke Gayford in a private ceremony on Saturday

Wellington: New Zealand’s former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern married her long-time partner Clarke Gayford in a private ceremony on Saturday.

She married after almost five years of engagement in 2019 ad the marriage was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The wedding took place in Hawke’s Bay at Craggy Range Winery on the east coast of North Island, about 310km (190 miles) north of the capital Wellington in front of 50-75 guests.

The couple have been together for a decade and they have a five-year-old daughter Neve.

Arden became the New Zealand Prime Minister when she was 37 and became a global icon for her left leaning politics. Everyone praised her for handling the nation’s worst ever mass shooting and the initial stages of Covid pandemic.

She shocked the New-Zealanders in January 2023 by stepping down as prime minister after five and half years.She announced she would temporarily join Harvrad University after being appointed to dual fellowships at the Harvard Kennedy school.
