Yellow Warning for thunderstorm with lightning issued for next 5 days, details here

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning for several districts of Odisha for the next five days.

The Office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) following the warning of the weather department also issued special advisory to the concerned district collectors.

Day-1 (Valid up to 8.30 AM of 4.6.2022):

  • Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Gajapati.

Day-2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of 4.6.2022 up to 8.30 AM of 5.6.2022):

  • Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur, and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Day-3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of 5.6.2022 up to 8.30 AM of 6.6.2022):

  • Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day-4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of 6.6.2022 up to 8.30 AM of 7.6.2022):

  • Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Sambalpur, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
  • Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Malkangiri, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Nayagarh.

Day-5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of 7.6.2022 up to 8.30 AM of 8.6.2022):

  • Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
  • Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Meanwhile, the Office of Special Relief Commissioner issued the following special advisory to the concerned district collectors:

  • Districts under the yellow warning will have to keep the administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
  • Rainfall may be reported immediately to the SRC office.
  • Submit a report on the damage, if occurred due to thunderstorm/ whirlwind, lightning immediately for information of the government.
