Keonjhar: In yet another tragic incident, a 67-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Akula village in Keonjhar district this morning, while she had gone to Malanda forest in Telkoi area to collect Mahula.
The deceased has been identified as Kadali Ransingh of Akula village.
According to reports, the tusker attacked the elderly woman by dashing her to the ground and later crushed her to death.
On intimation, forest officials reached the spot and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, locals have alleged that the forest officials are not taking adequate steps to tackle the elephant menace in the area, which is leading to such unfortunate incidents.
