Use of smartphone to be banned in Puri Srimandira from January

Authorised officers of Srimandira as well as servitors can use phone having with general keypad, but not smartphone.

Puri: In an important step towards security of Srimandira in Puri of Odisha, use of Smart Phone will be banned inside the temple premises. The decision has been made after frequent cases of photos of this famous temple going viral. The restriction is likely to be clamped from January 1, 2023. A decision was made today during the Chhatisha Nijog meeting today.

As per reports, while Smart Phones will be banned inside Srimandira premises, only one such phone will be allowed which will be used by the Srimandira Commander to convey about the important rituals, schedules etc. The other authorised officers of Srimandira as well as servitors can use phone having with general keypad, but not smartphone.

It is to be noted that the restriction for devotees to not to take phones inside Srimandira is already in force. So far only authorised officers and servitors of the temple were allowed to use smartphone inside the premises. Today discussion held over this and majority gave their nod for the aforesaid restriction. In the upcoming Srimandira Managing Committee meeting this decision will be approved. Most probably, from the new year this restriction will be in force.
