Undertrial Prisoner Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances At Sonepur Sub Jail

Subarnapur: An undertrial lodged at Sonepur Sub Jail was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the jail this afternoon. Police have started an investigation in this connection.

The deceased identified as Asgar Tiku (24) was the accused in the murder case of Dushmnant Kisan, a fireman working in the Binka fire station. Tiku had allegedly murdered Kisan last month by slitting his throat with a sharp-edged weapon over repayment of a loan.

Jail authorities said that Tiku had his breakfast this morning and later went to the loo. Jail authorities, however, did not find him during the lunch and later found him in a pool of blood in the jail toilet. They also found a blade from the spot.

Tiku was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared received dead.  Police have sent the body for postmortem and have started an investigation.

Though police suspected Tiku of committing suicide, a scientific team has rushed to the jail to collect evidence.
