Five Snatching Incidents Reported In Bhubaneswar In Last 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: At least five incidents of snatching from various parts of the state capital in last 24 hours have created fear among the city residents.

As per reports, three incidents of snatching from morning walkers were reported from Khandagiri, Bomikahl and Dhauli area this morning. Similarly, two such incidents took place at Nayapalli and Rsaulgarh on Saturday evening.

In the Rasulgarh incident, the couple identified as Anjana Rout and Sarat Rout has also suffered serious injuries after they fell from the motorcycle.

Earlier in March police had decided to equip staffs of PCR vans with small firearms. Besides police had also decided to identify snatching prone areas in the city along with road blockings in the wee hours.

Police, on the other hand, suspected involvement of a single gang in all these incidents. “We have asked the concerned police stations to start an investigation into all the snatching incidents. We are also trying to identify the snatchers through CCTV footage on nearby areas. We are also thinking of engaging the Special Squad to detect the cases,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anup Kumar Sahoo.
