Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, two minor sisters died after drowning in a pond at Karadapal village under Bhuban police limits of the district this evening.
The deceased has been identified as Radha Birua (5) and Laxmi Birua (10).
According to reports, the deceased minors along with their parents had gone to their aunt’s house from their native Baghuabila village few days ago. They went to a pond adjacent to the house for taking bath this evening.
As they did not return home even after two hours, their father Gopi Birua informed about the matter to Bhuban fire personnel, who rushed to the spot and fished out their bodies after a long two-hour of search.
The local police have sent the bodies to the hospital and started an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Karadapal village following the unfortunate death of the minors.
