Baripada: In an unfortunate incident, two minor siblings drowned in a pond at Uleikundi village under Shukruli block of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as three-year-old Raj Munda and his two-year-old sister Samabari Munda.
According to reports, Raj and Samabari’s parents had gone to work at their farmland this morning. However, they could not find the siblings at their home after reaching in the afternoon.
They made a frantic search for Raj and Samabari at all possible locations. Sometime later, they found their bodies floating in the pond in the backyard of their house.
They recovered Raj and Samabari’s bodies and thinking that there was a possibility of their survival, the family members soon rushed them to the Shukruli Community Health Centre. However, doctors declared both of them dead.
Raruana police reached the spot after getting information and registered an unnatural death. Cops also started an investigation into the matter.
