Uttarakhand tunnel mishap: Trapped Odia worker sends message for first time

An Odia worker trapped in the collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi have sent an audio message on Thursday.

Dehradun: An Odia worker trapped in the collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi have sent an audio message on Thursday. This was the first message the worker has send after being trapped for five days.

In the Uttarakhand tunnel collapse five labourers were trapped along with 35 others from other states. The rescue operation is ongoing to safely bring out the 40 labourers stuck in the tunnel in Uttarakhand.

Out of the five Odia-trapped workers, one worker named Dhiren Nayak of Mayurbhanj has sent this audio message to his family. In the message, he has reassured his family that he is safe and will be out soon.

Dhiren spoke to one of his relatives through a tube at the tunnel and said that almost all of them inside the tunnel are fine, except for a few who are slightly unwell. He also added that they are fine and are recording a video which will be sent soon.

Meanwhile, the families and villagers of all the five Odias stuck inside have offered prayers for their safe return.

On November 12 (Sunday), a part of an under-construction structure collapsed trapping several workers inside a tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi.

The five Odia workers who are trapped inside the tunnel are Biseshwar Nayak and Raju Nayak from Mayurbhanj, Tapan Mandal and Bhagban Batra from Nabarangpur and Dhiren from Kuldiha.
