Surjya Patro to get ‘Best Performing Minister’ award

Surjya Patro AwardBhubaneswar: Odisha’s Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Surjya Narayan Patro has been selected for the prestigious “India’s Best Performing Minister in a state in India” conferred by Indian Affairs every year.

Patro was selected for the award for his contribution to the growth of the IT sector and energy sector reforms in the state and disaster management during Phalin & Hudhud in his previous stint as minister.

Handling and effectively managing multiple departments like fisheries &a animal husbandry to start with Energy, IT, Culture & Tourism, Science & Technology, Environment, Revenue & Disaster Management, I & PR and now continuing with Food & Civil Supplies, Consumer Welfare and Cooperation.

His efforts was first seen as a Minister during the Fisheries and Animal Husbandry time where he found recognition and department found its prominence, and the major reforms that was brought into energy and revenue sector.

Omfed and Opolfed and Fishfed grew bounds during his time.

Lots of capacity building of power plants took place during his time (both CPP and IPP). The electricity rate during his time never saw an increase.

IT bloomed during his time and companies like TCS, Wipro, MindTree found its place in Bhubaneswar during his stint as Minister.

He has been representing his constituency for the 6th time in a row. He was an advocate and a businessman prior to becoming an MLA. His political career spans over 4 decades now.

The award will be conferred at the 8th Annual India Leadership Conclave & Indian Affairs Business Leadership Awards 2017, also known as “ILC Power Brand” to be held at Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai on Friday.

Patro’s selection was conveyed to him by Satya Brahma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the Network 7 Media group and Jury Chairperson & Founder, India Leadership Conclave.

Among the other awardees are former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Godrej Group chief Adi Godrej, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and film star Rani Mukherjee.
