Nuapada: In yet another tragic incident, two sisters drowned to death while taking bath at a pond in Sargadi village under Khariar police limits here this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Sheetal Baghel (20) and Tanisha Baghel (13).
According to reports, the two sisters lived in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur and were visiting their grandparents’ place in Nuapada for summer vacations.
The duo had gone to take a bath in the pond along with their grandmother. However, they accidentally slipped into deep waters and drowned.
Their grandmother tried to save them but in vain. Hearing her cries, a few locals rushed to the pond rescued the sisters, who were dead by this time.
After being informed, the Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A probe into the incident has also been initiated.
