Bhubaneswar: Senior Advocate of Orissa High court Jayant Das passes away at a private hospital here on Friday. He was 75.
He is survived by wife Sarita Jayanta Das, son Aditya Das an advocate. His final rites was conducted at Satya nagar crematorium in Bhubaneswar.
He is the son of Justice Naba Kisore Das and Pravamayi Devi.
He studied at Delhi University and was in Audit Account Services, England. However, he left Allied Service and joined advocacy to pursue his passion.
He was also Former Advocate General of Odisha. In 1991, he was recognized by the Odisha High Court as a senior lawyer. In 2013, he was elected President of the Odisha High Court Bar Association. He expertised in handling constitutional cases, employment-related, civil law cases.
High Court Bar Association president Jagbandhu Sahu, vice-president Devi Prasad Das, Secretary Dr Jitendra Kumar Lenka and lawyer Kali Prasanna Mishra and Debsnan Das paid their tributes to the former president of Orissa High Court Bar Association.
