Rath Yatra 2022: ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ ritual to be held in Puri today

Puri: The ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ ritual for the world famous Rath Yatra 2022 will be held in Puri on the occasion of Saraswati Puja (Basant Panchami) today.

Reportedly, the ritual will be held in Puri in the evening. As many as 64 wood logs including Fasi and Asana have already been fetched from Dasapalla forest under Nayagarh district.

Out of all the holy woods, three 12-feet logs will be placed in front of the Puri temple office.

According to the rituals, the Raj Purohit and the Brahmins will worship the three pieces of wood logs near Maa Saraswati. Later on Ram Navami, the ritual for the beginning of woodcutting for the chariots of Puri Ratha Yatra will take place.

A total of 765 pieces of wood logs will be needed to build the Rath (chariot) this year. Adding to it, there are 80 pieces of wood leftover from the previous year.
