Pulwama Attack: CM urges Odisha school students to pay homage to martyred CRPF Jawans

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged students and staff of all educational institutions across the state to pay homage to the martyred CRPF Jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama attack yesterday.

According to reports, Patnaik has requested all the educational institutions to observe a two-minute silence at 11 am tomorrow.

Apart from paying his tributes to the martyred Jawans, the Chief Minister personally spoke with the bereaved kin of the two deceased soldiers over the phone and expressed his sympathy to them. Besides, he announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for them.

It is worthwhile to mention here that 42 CRPF jawans including two from Odisha -Prasanna Kumar Sahu, a resident of Shikhar village under Naugaon police limits, and Manoj Kumar Behera of Ratanpur in Niali of Cuttack district – were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his car into the bus of CRPF convoy near Lethpora Awantipora on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at around 3.15 pm yesterday. Several other security personnel were also injured due to the attack, for which terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility.
