Prof Ganeshi Lal seeks Lord Jagannath’s blessing ahead of taking oath as Governor

Puri: Newly appointed Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal on Tuesday visited Shree Jagannath Temple and sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his siblings this morning ahead of taking oath as the Governor of the state.

“I am extremely happy that I got an opportunity to have the glimpse of Lord Jagannath and his siblings here,” said Prof Lal after praying at the temple.

“Reaching out to the people of all walks of life and guarding the Constitution of India will be my first priority,” he added.

Prof Ganeshi will take oath at 6.10 PM on the premises of Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran will administer him the oath of the office and secrecy.

The new Governor of Odisha was given the guard of honour on his arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport here yesterday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, many Odisha Ministers and Chief Secretary A.P Padhi, DGP R.P Sharma, Police Commissioner Y.B Khurania, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and others received him.

Prof Lal is a former president of BJP’s Haryana State unit. He had also served as the Food Supplies Minister of Haryana. Besides, he was the national president of the BJP’s Disciplinary Committee.
