Patient dies after falling from 4th floor of Dhenkanal DHH

Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a patient who was undergoing treatment at the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) died this morning after falling from the fourth floor of its building.

The deceased has been identified as Khageshwar Bhola of Haridapasi village under Sadar Police limits.

Khageshwar had been admitted to the hospital few days back due to gastric related problem and was improving, informed his family members.

“At around 4 pm last night, the condition of my son started deteriorating and the staffs of the medical administered an injection to him. However, he didn’t get any relief and wanted to go to washroom a few minutes later, during which the mishap took place,” said the deceased’s mother Kholana Bhola.

While it is still not clear under what circumstances the deceased fell off the building his sistier-in-law identified as Bebina Jena has blamed hospital authorities for the incident. She said, the hospital authorities should not have allotted bed to a patient who is mentally unstable due to sickness, near an open window.

Police have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.
