Lady doctor commits suicide by jumping before train in Odisha’s Chatrapur

Berhampur: A woman medical practitioner on Friday committed suicide by jumping before a running train at Chatrapur of Ganjam district. The deceased medico has been identified as Dr Archana Dash.

Government Railway Police recovered her mutilated body from the tracks and sent it for post-mortem.

While the exact cause of her death is yet to be known, her family members alleged that she took the extreme step because she was being harassed physically and mentally by her husband and in-laws.

As per reports, Dash had married to Dr Anjan Dash four years ago, who works as a Cardiac Anesthesiologist at a private hospital in Gajapati Nagar area in Bhubaneswar. However, often there were disputes between them. Dash’s in-laws were also used to have fight with her, following which the she was staying at her parent’s house in Chatrapur.

Meanwhile, Raghunath Dash, father of the deceased, filed a case against his son-in-law and his family members and demanded their arrest and stringent action against them.

“Recently, my daughter had received a notice from Bhubaneswar Family Court. The allegations leveled against her were all made-up. She was under duress post receiving the notice. Besides, her in-laws had been torturing my daughter since long. All of them should be arrested,” Raghunath said.

Chatrapur police has started an investigation into the matter.
