Padampur: An under trial prisoner in the Padampur Sub jail succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at Covid care centre in Bargarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Chataram, native of Dhenkimunda village under Paikmal police limits.
He took his last breath at 7.50 pm while undergoing treatment at the Covid Care Centre.
Sources said, on May 21, Chataram has tested positive rapid antigen test and was under isolation. After his health condition deteriorated, he was immediately shifted to Padampur Covid Care Centre.
He was arrested on charges of killing a person in November 2020.
