Orissa HC revokes notification of Odisha Medical Services Association election

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has revoked the Odisha Medical Services Association’s (OMSA) election notification and declared the election as invalid.

Reportedly, One Dr. Pabitra Mohan Mallik had filed a petition alleging that the central election committee was wrongly constituted.

Earlier in February, the Orissa High Court had issued a stay order on the notification after the petition challenged it.

Notably, the OSMA elections are usually held once every two years. The term of the elected committee had expired in March 2021, however, the election has not been held for various reasons.

Meanwhile, an election committee has been formed by the Appellate Authority. The committee had announced the election on February 1.

According to OMSA law, the Appellate Committee or the Electoral Committee appointed by it cannot decide on the election. A case was filed based on this rule of OMSA.
