Kendrapara: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended the Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Derabish Block in Kendrapara while demanding and accepting a bribe.
The Assistant Block Education Officer has been identified as Bipin Bihari Singh.
Acting on a tip-off, the Odisha anti-corruption team laid a trap against Bipin while demanding and accepting cash of Rs.5,000/- from a Complainant (Asst. Teacher) to release his held over pay.
The entire bribe money Rs 5000/- has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of accused Singh.
Following trap , residential house of accused Singh located at Poilo, Balia under Kendrapara district is being searched from disproportionate assets angle.
A case has been registered in this connection with Cuttack Vigilance under section 7 (b) of The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway against Singh.
