Odisha to introduce electric buses by March 2020

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will introduce electric buses in the state by March this year, said an official on Wednesday. As many as 50 electric buses will be rolled out in first phases, he added.

The electric vehicles will run under “ Mo Bus” project in the State capital along with temple town of Puri and millennium city Cuttack.

Currently, as many as 200 buses are operating under “Mo Bus” project covering the cities Bhubnaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

Meanwhile, a two-day training programme was started here today to train the employees of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) and Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) over the safety and security of the passengers.

As many as 120 employees received the special training from the experts coming from different parts of the country and outside.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena, CRUT Managing Director Arun Bothra and other senior officials were present in the programme.
