Odisha to commence river cruises to upgrade tourism

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is likely to begin river cruises in an effort to upgrade the tourism industry in the State. The tourism industry has been harshly affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per sources, the Odisha tourism department is likely to launch a luxury houseboat, Garuda for commercial operations in Chilika lake.

Adding to it, the cruises will provide a five-star experience to the visitors. The tour packages shall be focused on tourists and shall cover Bhitarkanika National Park and adjoining areas of Gahirmatha Wildlife Sanctuary which will include an overnight stay along with full board meals, activities, and cruising.

Besides, there will be two floors housing two suite rooms and four premium rooms, a bar, and a restaurant on the luxury houseboat ‘Garuda’. An open-air lobby will also be built for meetings and conferences, added reports.

Meanwhile, Silver City Boat Club in Cuttack has completed 1 year of successful operation. It has one of its kind Floating Dining Facility on River Mahanadi.
