Odisha Srimandir Reforms Case: Amicus Curiae submits report to SC

New Delhi: Supreme Court appointed Amicus Curiae Ranjit Kumar submitted his report in the apex court on Tuesday in reference to the Srimandir Reforms case.

Supreme Court Judges Justice A. K. Sikri, Justice S. Abdul Nazeer, and Justice M. R Shah will be hearing the Srimandir reforms case today. Amicus Curiae’s report is based on inputs from Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati, Puri Gajapati Maharaj Dibyasingh Deb, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the servitors of the temple during his visit to the temple city last month.

Shankaracharya has requested the SC to include him to be a party to the case. Also, the next hearing of the referred case will be on April 2.

Also getting heard today is the Mahanadi water dispute case. Odisha and Chattisgarh officials and a group of technical experts are set to have their second meeting today to hopefully attain a complementary settlement. The first meeting was held on February 25 and had not been able to attain any positive end.

Similarly, the Bansadhara water dispute case shall be heard by the tribunal. Tribunal chairperson and two other Supreme Court justices shall be hearing the matter today.
