Odisha Municipal Elections 2022: Over 50% voter turnout recorded till 5 PM

Bhubaneswar: Secretary of State Election Commission (SEC), Odisha informed that over 50 per cent voting for the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) was recorded till 5 PM.

According to the report of the Secretary of SEC, 45 per cent voting for the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) was recorded till 3 noon while 32 per cent voting for the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) was recorded till 12 noon.

The voting for the 106 Urban Local Bodies and three municipal corporations of the State which began at 8 AM has come to an end at 5 PM.

Over 40.55 lakh eligible voters exercised their franchise. As many as 6411 candidates are in the fray for the election. While 569 candidates are contesting for the post of chairperson and mayor, 5,842 candidates are there for the election to councillor and corporator seat.

Meanwhile, separate cases of poll violence have also been reported in several places across the State.
