Odisha: High court Bar Assn opposes decision of sticking Rs 100 ticket in Vakalatnama

Cuttack: The Odisha State Bar Council has recently decided to affix a ticket worth Rs. 100 on the Vakalatnama towards the Corpus welfare fund while filing cases in any Court in the State including the High Court.
However, the High Court Bar Association and other Bar Associations in Cuttack have expressed their disagreement towards this decision.

The matter was discussed in a meeting at the HC Bar Association in presence of the members of the High Court Bar Association and other Bar Associations of Cuttack.

The High Court Bar Association members have pleaded that as of now since the Odisha State Bar Council does not have an elected council, the decision is not acceptable.

The High Court Bar Association has also suspected whether the Rs. 100 stamp amount will be utilised for the development of the advocates or not. The members have also argued that it will be an extra burden on the clients.

The High Court Bar Association has intimated its decision over the Rs 100 stamp corpus fund to the 168 Bar Associations of the state and requested all the Bars not to pay for the said ticket. They have informed that a joint meeting of all these Bars Associations and the HC Bar Association will be held in the coming days.
