New Year 2024: Puri Jagannath Temple says entry not allowed to devotees in skirts and ripped jeans

Puri: Lakhs of devotees are visiting the famous Jagannath temple in Puri on the first day of the new year 2024. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has also started enforcing the new dress code for devotees entering the temple from today that is January 1, 2024.

All the devotees are visiting the Jagannath temple in Puri while wearing traditional ‘decent’ clothes. The devotees who wear shorts, ripped jeans and skirts will not be allowed to enter the temple premises. The SJTA has been spreading awareness about the dress code and urged devotees to decent clothes for the last two months.

The devotees started entering the temple at 12.55 am after the temple opened at 12.40 am. Lakhs of devotees have rushed to the temple to get the darshan of the deities to begin the New Year with their blessings.

Apart from this, the devotees are barred from eating gutkha, and pan. They also banned the use of plastic inside the temple.
