Man abducted over land dispute in Kendrapara village

Kendrapara: Tension ran high in Keshanagar village under Rajkanika police limits last night after a group of miscreants abducted a man over a land dispute.

The victim has been identified as Golekh Jena, of the same village.

As per the complaint filed by the victim’s wife Sabita Jena at the Rajkanika Police Station in connection with the case this morning, he had taken a loan from one Pramod Nayak of Dahanigiri village by keeping a piece of land on mortgage. However, a dispute occurred between the duo after Golekh wanted to sell the same piece of land to a person last month to meet some urgent financial need.

“Pramod along with a few of his aides forcibly took my husband in a Bolero while he was returning from Bharigada Bazaar at around 9 pm last night,” added Sabita.

“While Pramod expressed his interest to purchase the land he had kept on mortgage and objected the sell, later he delayed the payment. A panchayat meeting was also held in the village on December 28 last year to solve the issue but he didn’t attend it,” said Batakrushna Jena, victim’s uncle.

Meanwhile, the Rajkanika Police has launched a massive search operation in and around the area to rescue the victim from the clutches of the abductors.
