Malkangiri: Police on Saturday arrested the headmaster of Sikhapali Residential Girls High School for abetting the suicide of a Class X girl of the residential school who had killed herself on Thursday following repeated sexual assault by the former.
Biswajit Sarkar, the headmaster of the school is the main accused in this case, said Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Meena in a presser.
During investigation, a notebook of the minor deceased girl was seized in which a note mentioned that Biswajit had also assaulted other minor girls of the school. Further, during the course of investigation, another girl of the school revealed about being assaulted by the headmaster, thus corroborating with the note found.
Clarifying on the death of the minor, the SP said the post-mortem report stated excessive bleeding due to incised wound on the left hand wrist as the reason of the death.
The headmaster was booked under various sections of the IPC including 376 (rape), 341 (wrongful restraint) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said the police.
The Class-X girl was found lying in a pool of blood on Thursday night and had a cut in her left hand. She has been identified as Bandana Sarkar. She had not returned to her room after having dinner. After a frantic search for her in the school campus, Bandana was found found in the computer room.
The minor girl was immediately rushed to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where the doctors declared her brought dead.
