Bargarh: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials, the Excise Department sleuths raided office and residences of an Assistant Engineer of Lift Irrigation Department in Bargarh district today on charges of accumulating disproportionate assets.
As per the report, a Vigilance team from Bhubaneswar led by Inspector Manoranjan Paikray carried out the raid against the accused officials identified as Baikuntha Rout, this morning.
The raid took place simultaneously at five places including Bargarh Lift Irrigation office, Rout’s rented house in the same area, in-laws’ house in Bhubaneswar, parental home in Tamaka of Jajpur district.
During the raid, the anti-corruption wing officials verified bank passbooks, land records, insurance papers and several other important documents possessed by Rout.
While the raid was underway till the last report came in, the exact amount of seized disproportionate assets would be disclosed once the same gets completed, said an official.
