Justice Raghubir Dash appointed as new member of OHRC

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal today appointed the former judge of Orissa High Court Justice Raghubir Dash as the new member of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).

Justice Dash had earlier worked as the Chairman of the commission of inquiry set up by the Odisha Government to probe into the missing Ratna Bhandar key of Sri Jagannath Temple.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of the Section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (Act 10 of 1994), the Governor of Odisha is pleased to appoint Sri Justice Raghubir Das, former judge of Orissa High Court (Retired) to be the Member of Odisha Human Rights Commission with effect from the date he assumes charge of this office,” a State Law Department notification dated December 22, 2018 read.

Notably, the OHRC is functioning without a Chairperson since August 15 this year, following the completion of tenure of Justice Bira Kishore Mishra. Odisha Government has recommended the OHRC Chairperson and member names to the Governor on December 20, this year.
