Jharkhand man kills friend’s wife, daughter over rejection of love proposal

Sundargarh: Odisha police on Wednesday arrested a man in connection to the death of a woman and her seven-year-old daughter in Sundergarh district on December 25. The accused person has been identified as Shalil Bhengra, a native of West Singhbum in Jharkhand.
They were found dead under mysterious circumstances inside their house at Orampada village under Hemgiri police limits in the district on December 25.
According to Sambalpur SP Pinak Mishra, Shalil, who is working as a driver in Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), went to his friend Patrik Minj’s house in his absence on the night of Christmas Eve and proposed his love to Patrik’s wife Nindia Minj (26) in an inebriated state. Later, he strangulated her to death after she rejected his love proposal. He also killed her seven-year-old daughter Smruti, who was present on the spot.
Notably, bodies of Nindia and Smruti were recovered from their closed house the next day after Patrik returned from his work and informed the local police about the incident. Shalil’s one-and-half-year-old son who was also attacked on his head was rescued and rushed to hospital.
