Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert for at least 19 districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest weather bulletin of the MeT Department released this morning districts like Puri, Cuttack, Ganjam, Khordha( including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkanagiri and Koraput are likely to moderate thunderstorm and lightning along with one or two spells of moderate rainfall between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm today.
In another prediction districts like Angul, Kandhamal, Balangir, Kalahandi, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsingpur and Mayurbhanj are also likely to witness moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by one or two spells of rainfall during the same period, informed the Weatherman.
In view of the approaching extreme weather, people in the alerted districts have been cautioned against venturing out of home and advised to take shelter in safe places.
