Grace Period For Payment Of MV Tax In Odisha Extended Till 30th June Amid Covid-19 Outbreak

Bhubaneswar: Amid the ongoing nationwide lock down to prevent ÇOVID-19, the government of Odisha on Thursday extended the grace period for payment of Motor Vehicle tax/additional tax of owners of contract carriages, stage carriages and goods carriages till June 30, 2020.

” Due to lock down declared by Govt of India as well as the State Government to prevent Coronavirus, the owners owners of stage carriages, contract carriages and goods carriages are not able to pay Motor Vehicle Tax and additional tax for the month of April,2020 in respect of stage carriages/ contract carriages and quarterly tax for the period of April-June,2020 in respect of good s carriages with in the grace period as prescribed under subbrule (2) of rule-9 Odisha Motor Vehicle Taxation Rules, 1976,” said a notice issued by Commerce and Transport department, Government of Odisha, today.

” Considering the difficulties faced by the vehicle owners, the Government has been pleased to extend the grace for payment of of Motor Vehicle Tax/ additional tax if the aforesaid categories of vehicles up to 30-06-2020,” it added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced to extend the lockdown till April 30,2020 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
