Koraput: In a major catch, Koraput police today seized more than 12 quintal ganja worth 1.25 crore from two vehicles here last night.
Acting on specific information, Lamtaput police intercepted a speeding truck during patrolling, but the driver fled from the spot hitting the police barricade. The police chased the vehicle and taking advantage of the darkness the driver left the truck and managed to escape into the jungle.
During the search found more than 10 quintal of ganja was recovered worth more than 1 crore.
The contraband item was being smuggled to Chattisgarh from Jalaput.
On the other hand, Padua police have also seized more than 2.5 quintal ganja worth Rs 25 lakh from the truck. The police arrested the driver and seized the truck.
The ganja was being smuggled to Rourkela from Chatua area.
