Jeypore: In a tragic incident, four persons were killed and three others critically injured after a bus hit an autorickshaw near Borigumma in Koraput district this evening. The injured have been admitted at Borigumma hospital.
The incident took place on National Highway – 26 when the bus was on its way to Berhampur from Nabarangpur hit the autorickshaw. The impact was so severe that the driver of the autorickshaw along with three passengers died on the spot. Eyewitnesses said that as many as seven passengers including the driver were travelling in the autorickshaw.
Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. The driver of the bus, however, fled from the spot. Borigumma police have started an investigation. “Eyewitnesses said that the mishap took place when the bus was trying to overtake the autorickshaw. We are trying to ascertain the identity of the deceased,” said a police official.
