Kendrapara: Dreaded criminal Debi Prasad Das alias Litu was injured in a police encounter near Sireipur on Boudha Gadar Tikhiri road under Marshaghai police limits in Odisha late last night.
The criminal, who sustained bullet injury in his right leg, was initially rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital here and later shifted to S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Based on a tip off about Litu’s presence in Sireipur area, a combine team of Kendrapara special squad and Marshaghai police swung into action and rushed to the spot. Seeing the cop, Litu opened fire at them. In retaliation, the police too fired and Litu was hit in his leg.
A bike, a pistol, live cartridges, and a mobile phone have been seized from his possession, Police said.
