Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre here on Thursday informed that a depression has formed over south-east Bay of Bengal this evening.
The weather department in its Twitter handle said, “A depression has formed over the south-east Bay of Bengal at 17.30hrs IST of 2nd December.”
“It (the depression) is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 24hrs,” it added.

Meanwhile, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that the well-marked low-pressure area over south-east Bay of Bengal moved W-NWwards, concentrated into a depression & lay centered at 1730 hrs IST of today, over the south-east Bay of Bengal near Lat. 11.0°N &Long. 89.0°E, about 960 km South-East of Vishakhapatnam, 1020 km South-East of Gopalpur & 1060 km S-SE of Paradip.
