Cuttack: The newly elected Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Subhash Singh has resigned from the Rajya Sabha membership on Thursday.
Reportedly, Sign sent his resignation letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President Venkaiha Naidu today.
“Consequent upon my election as CMC Mayor on March 26, I submit my resignation under Rule 213 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Rajya Sabha from its membership of Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and I request you to accept the same with immediate effect,” he wrote in the letter.
He further expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation during his tenure as Member of the August House.
Notably, Subhash Singh won in the Municpal Election of Cuttack and was elected as the Mayor of CMC. He is the first directly elected Mayor of Cuttack and won the CMC Mayor seat with a margin of 45,206 votes.
