Cameraman Manas Swain murder case: Crime Branch files chargesheet against 8 accused persons

Bhadrak: Odisha Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against eight accused persons involved in the sensational murder case of cameraman Manas Swain.

The Crime Branch filed a 905-page chargesheet at the Chandbali JMFC Court against eight accused. The accused persons whose names have been mentioned in the chargesheet are Sarmistha Rout (the owner of a web portal and editor of a magazine named Sampoorna), Niranjan Sethi (retired Odisha Information Service officer), Jhuna Bhoi, Paremeswar Rout, Niranjan Nayak, Bhagyadhar Nayak, Krushna Chandra Nayak and a minor.

The investigation agency has charged the accused persons under Sections 302, 360, 363, 364, 471, 465, 201 and 212 of the IPC.

Notably, Manas Swain was working as the cameraman of the web-channel owned by Sarmistha. His family members had filed a missing report with Chandbali police on February 14, following which a case under sections 373 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered and an investigation was initiated.
