Bhubaneswar: Bollywood actor-producer Naseer Khan sent to jail today after his bail petition was rejected by the court. Khan had appeared before the CBI court here in connection with a multi-crore chit fund scam. He is accused of duping depositors who invested in Fine India Sales Pvt Ltd, a chit fund company in Balasore district.
The visually-impaired actor is said to have produced Hindi film ‘Shadow’ from the funds that he collected through the chit fund company as he was one of the directors of Fine India chit fund firm.
It was alleged that Fine India had transferred chit fund money to Mumbai via a Kanpur-based firm. Later, the company closed its operation in Balasore.
Odisha Crime Branch (CB) had arrested Khan from Cuttack in October 2009 for his link with the chit fund company. However, he was released on bail later.
