Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi office sealed for violating COVID-19 norms

Bhubaneswar: The office of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi is being sealed for 15 days by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for violation of Covid guidelines during her birthday celebration.

A video has surfaced and went viral in which the MP was seen flouting COVID-19 guidelines and celebrating her birthday. The video showed the Bhubaneswar MP surrounded by a large number of women, who were not wearing face masks or maintaining social distance. Even, Sarangi was also seen without a mask at the celebration.

A team led by Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner (BMC) zonal deputy commissioner Rabinarayan Jethy and police reached her office to enquire about the allegation on Saturday.

The BMC notice said the premises will be sealed for 15 days and sanitised during the period. Those who had attended the birthday will also undergo COVID-19 test. Anyone found to be COVID positive will be under home isolation.

 

On Friday, Minister of State (Home) Captain Divya Shankar Mishra had written to the Central Government over violation of COVID guidelines during her birthday celebrations.

On the other hand, Corona Warriors including medical staff, cleaning staff, ASHA workers have complained against MP Aparajita Sarangi in the DCP office in the matter and demanded action against her.
