Bhubaneswar ATM uprooted and looted case: 2 including 1 Bangladeshi arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested two persons including one Bangladeshi national in connection with ATM loot case in Indira Housing Colony at Lingipur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, the two accused have been arrested from Bengaluru. The duo had sent money to Bangaladesh after looting the ATM, informed Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi

“Through the Sarai app, we learnt that five robbers were involved in the loot who later eloped to Andhra Pradesh. Hence, a team of Commissionerate Police conducted a manhunt in the state,”he said.

The Commissionerate Police team successfully arrested the two robbers after searching for about 30 hotels in Andhra. “Further search is underway to nab four more Bangladeshi nationals,” he added.

The robbers looted the cash by uprooting a State Bank Of India (SBI) ATM on April 4. The machine weighed more than 3 quintals. The incident was recorded on the CCTV camera installed inside the ATM.

The cash machine was found on the Daya riverbank and the pick-up van in which the ATM was carried. The van that was used to carry the ATM was also a stolen vehicle. The Bhubaneswar DCP had formed a special team and the investigation was initiated under the leadership of the Special Squad.

The two accused looters will be taken into custody by the Commissionerate Police for further questioning. However, the looted money has not yet been recovered.
